Winking Screech Owl

Although it may appear otherwise, there is nothing wrong with this Fledgling Screech Owl’s eye….I simply lucked out in snapping a shot, just as he/she was closing an eye, making for this adorable “winking” owl picture. Eastern Screech Owls can be found in two different color phases; red (rufous), and gray. The gray phase is more common toward the northern part of their range. Photographed in Winfield, PA, USA. This picture is shown in the 4:5 ratio format. If ordering a 1:1 ratio option, you will lose a bit of the left and right margins, without impacting the visual appeal.
